Tomorrow night we will embrace the energy of the full moon chi with a full moon guided meditation at 9 pm EDT. The July Full Moon, is commonly called the Buck Moon. The indigenous Ojibwe people of the Great Lakes region call this Moon the Halfway Summer Moon, or the Raspberry Moon.

This Full Moon is also a special day in the Hindu calendar because on this day, people pay ode to their Gurus (teachers/mentors) in a celebration called Guru Purnima. The word Guru is derived from two different words Gu and Ru. Gu means ignorance or darkness and Ru means elimination or removal.

Today's Goal: Get some sunshine! Vitamin D aka the "Sunshine" vitamin. Vitamin D insufficiency affects almost 50% of the population worldwide. Current studies suggest that we may need more vitamin D than presently recommended to prevent chronic disease. An estimated 1 billion people worldwide, across all ethnicities and age groups, have a vitamin D deficiency. This pandemic of hypovitaminosis D can mainly be attributed to lifestyle and environmental factors that reduce exposure to sunlight, which is required for ultraviolet-B (UVB)-induced vitamin D production in the skin.
